Get To Know Your Reds: Part 30 - Bill Plummer

According to Baseball Reference there have been 1,891 different players who got into a major league game as a Cincinnati Red/Red Stocking/Redleg as of the end of the 2014 season. So I threw them all into a randomizer and off we go.

Born: March 21, 1947, Oakland, California
Signed: 1965, by the Cardinals
Debut: 1968 with the Cubs
Reds Debut: 1970, acquired via trade

Final Major League Season: 1978, with the Mariners



His 10 season career was spent mostly with the Reds, but sandwiched by a debut year with the Cubs and a final year with the Mariners. He also spent time with the Cardinals' farm before the Cubs took him in the Rule 5 draft.

Hit two home runs in one game off of Steve Carlton.

Began his managerial career with the Mariners' San Jose Missions in 1980, then moved through the organization to be the Mariners' third base coach and ultimately their manager, in 1992.

In 21 seasons as a manager, Plummer has managed farm teams for the Mariners, Tigers, Reds (Billings Mustangs), and Diamondbacks, as well as independent leagues and has acquired over 1,400 wins.
