As for the player, Harry Gaspar (yeah, it's misspelled on the card) went 46-48 in his four big league seasons, all with Cincy, with a nice 2.69 lifetime ERA.

Some Fresh Autos - Ron Oester, Chris Welsh, Miguel Cairo

These people wrote their names on small pictures of themselves and now I have those small pictures.

Ron Oester played all 13 big-league seasons in the infield for the Reds. He played in over 1200 games for Cincy, pinch hit in the 1990 World Series win, and was elected to the Reds Hall of Fame in 2014. Signed is a 1981 Topps #21.

Chris Welsh pitched for the Padres, Expos, and Rangers, before closing his career with a 24-start season for the Reds in 1986. Signed is a 1987 Topps #592.

Miguel Cairo had a 17-year major league career that went through Blue Jays, Cubs, Rays, Cubs again, Cardinals, Yankees, Mets, Yankees again, Cardinals again, Mariners, and Phillies, before a 3 year stint in Cincy to finish his career. Signed is a 2012 Topps #268.

Hot Dogs, Gum, Cereal, and Milk Duds

Apparently, without unhealthy food, our card collections wouldn't be very good.

1964 Kahn's Wieners Tommy Harper. Probably the best color I've seen on any 60's set. I need more than the two from this set that I have.

1953 Bowman Black and White Rocky Bridges. Less colorful than the Harper, but sweet nonetheless.

1971 Kellogg's Pete Rose. Somehow, this is my first from the '71 Kellogg's set. Roses are usually the last cards I acquire for vintage sets.

1971 Milk Duds Bobby Tolan. I had never seen this set before. It's not terribly exciting, but I love it anyway. These constituted one full side of a Milk Duds box, so the box edges made them easy to remove. Also, Milk Duds are very tasty.

What's to say? These cards are like base cards, except shiny, or icy, or blue, or some combination of shiny, icy, and blue. But I like them. Because I didn't have them. The hunt is real.
