Your Oddball World Cup Champion

After long... long... ... ... long await, we've done it. All 272 matches in this insane competition I devised are in the books. And by a final tally of 10-7 in the title match, the Oddball World Cup champion is here.

Boom. 1982 Squirt Dave Concepcion.

The Set: 22 cards, released in cases of Squirt soda as part of a larger, perforated display. As you can see in my card, the perforation is still there, yet someone decided to cut near it to wrest ol' Davey from the ad below him and the other card above him.

The Player: Dave Concepcion played at 2,488 games of his 19 year career with the Reds. He was a 9-time All Star and a 2-time World Series champion. He was one of the best defensive shortstops of all time and it is a national travesty that he is not in the Hall of Fame.

Good fight from our runner-up and one of my favorite cards, the 1981 Drake's George Foster. And thanks everyone for all these votes over all these months. Go Reds.

    1. You're clearly the rebel of the card blog world. Defying convention at every turn.

    2. I'm probably the guy who canceled out all your votes.
