Eating Into Profit Margins via Postage

I'm sure all of us team collectors periodically go to eBay, type our team, sort by lowest price, and put out a bunch of cheapo bids. Sometimes I feel bad when these sellers don't realize they have a card worth maybe a quarter, then have to mail it to me for 49 cents. Sometimes. Most times I'm just happy to get a random odd Red in the mailbox from time to time. Here are the latest, with the costs minus the stamp.

2012 Gypsy Queen Gold Frame Johnny Bench. Net cost $0,00

2015 Topps Gold Burke Badenhop. Net cost -$0.04

2015 Gypsy Queen Mini Jay Bruce. Net cost -$0.20

1991 Starting Lineup Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo. Net cost $0.51

1995 Bowman Silver Foil Aaron Boone. Net cost $0.08

2015 Topps Rainbow Foil Brayan Pena. Net cost $0.01

2000 MLB Showdown 1st Edition Ken Griffey Jr. Net cost -$0,28

1992 Select Rookies Reggie Sanders, 1995 Stadium Club Members Only Barry Larkin.
Net Cost -$0,14.

2015 Topps Chipz Jay Bruce. Net cost -$0,02.

2013 Panini Elite Extra Edition Status Orange Die Cut Signatures Chad Rogers #05/10. Net cost $1,50. Ok, here's the exception to all of the above, but daggone. An auto out of 10 for only a buck fifty is nice.

Go Reds.

  1. Nice group of cards. I don't go on ebay much anymore, but have been looking the last day or so. I do try to bid or win on something at least once a year to make it appear I'm still somewhat active. I like those Starting Lineup cards the most I think.

    1. It's a shame they got separated from their figures sometime in the past 20 years, though.

  2. That Johnny Bench deserves it's spot at the top. I'm a big Ebay guy in general but from time to time I search and bid on cards from $.01-$.06 with free shipping. It's more a less a game to me. I'll put in 150 bids and maybe win one or two if that. I've got nothing to lose. Even if a miracle happened and I won them all I'd still only be out a few bucks.

    1. I bet you get a lot of 1991 Donruss. "MINT Condition!"

  3. That would be too easy --and stupid. I've actually won some better stuff, shiny cards, football, hockey. Takes a lot of work though, like using a metal detector and finding pennies.
