NTNBRVT Champ - 1941 Play Ball Frank McCormick

After much fanfare and hundreds of votes cast, the Non-Topps Non-Bowman Reds Vintage Tournament has spat out a victor: 1941 Play Ball Frank McCormick. Final bracket results here.

The Set: 72 cards strong, the third release from Gum, Inc. and its first in color. World War II caused the company to halt production.

The Player: "Buck" played his first 10 of 13 big-league years in Cincy, won the NL MVP in 1940, was chosen to 9 straight All Star teams, won a World Series with the Reds in 1940, elected to the Reds Hall of Fame's first class.

Many thanks to all of you who plowed through these many weeks of voting. Be on the lookout for another stupid tournament. Go Reds.

    1. Yeah. Me, too. It's still a pretty neat card though.

    2. As was I. It's one of my favorite cards. I was kind of upset it got lost in the shuffle, but it came on strong through the tourney.
