Get To Know Your Reds: Part 29 - Bud Byerly

According to Baseball Reference there have been 1,891 different players who got into a major league game as a Cincinnati Red/Red Stocking/Redleg as of the end of the 2014 season. So I threw them all into a randomizer and off we go.

Born: October 26, 1920, Webster Groves, Missouri
Signed: 1940, by the Cardinals
Debut: 1943 with the Cardinals
Reds Debut: 1950, acquired via free agency
Reds Stats: 3 seasons at RP/SP, 56 games, 3 starts, 105.1 IP, 47 K, 3.59 ERA, 2-3 record
Final Major League Season: 1960, with the Giants


Grew up less than 20 minutes from the Cardinals' ball park, who would sign him to his first big league contract at age 19.
His 11 season major league career (that spanned from 1943 to 1960) saw time with the Cardinals, Reds, Senators, Red Sox, and Giants, as well as a minor league stint with the Dodgers
Pitched a perfect inning and a third for the Cards during the 1944 World Series victory.
