Whole bunch of 1993 Topps goodness for today's Completely Red. Ooh yeah. I'm fairly certain all of us love the flagship '93 offering. It was Topps' first full-on glossy major release. Crisp, unique photography. Huge 825-card set, plus a 132-card Traded set. PLUS the sweet, sweet golds. Topps experimented with gold parallels in '92, and infamously screwed up the 'winners' vs. regulars. Everyone still loved 'em though, and the 1993 gold parallels looked damn good. This was the beginning of the end, kiddies. I'm half-expecting an Archives-style re-release with gold, red, purple, blue, black, orange, green, yellow, plaid, polka-dot, and Uranium-238 parallels. I shouldn't have put that in print. Oh wait. No one from Topps reads my nonsense.
Bonus: The Topps Micro team set. What an annoying set of cards. Put out alongside the 1991, 1992, and 1993 releases, these things are obnoxiously small. I've chosen to display them with their big brothers, which I kind of like. Notes for the completists out there: 1) Topps chose not to goldify the checklists, so they created three new cards in gold-only, including Red Keith Brown (which makes it not a parallel, I guess. 2) No golds were created for the traded set. This was amended in 1994. 3) No micros were created for the traded set. 4) Be on the look-out for a Bip-Attack.
