COMC Smackdown: Part 2/2 - Modern

Here be Part 1 - Vintage.
---------------------
Part 2 of the COMC foray. Some serials and some autos. Let's roll.

We'll start here: 2004 Donruss Team Heroes Showdown Gold Tim Hummel. Now, Tim Hummel is not exactly a Hall of Fame candidate. His entire big league career consisted of 219 plate appearances over the 2003/2004 seasons with a .222 batting average. So why lead with Mr. Hummel, here?

Blam. Serial numbered out of 10. Suh-weet.

2005 Leaf Sportscasters Yellow Frank Robinson /25. Another card purchased solely for the low population. This was one of many Leaf sets put out around this time with a billion variations, all with low numbers. Don't know how I feel about it. No matter. I'll take any red-clad Frank Robinson.

2005 Donruss Studio Portraits Adam Dunn /30. Hey. Cheer up, Adam. You're serial numbered out of 30. That is cause to celebrate.

2012 Bowman Blue Johnny Cueto, Aroldis Chapman /500. Purty.

2011 Topps Lineage 1952 Autographs Jonny Gomes.
2011 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Franchise Futures Signatures Pedro Villarreal /960.
1996 Leaf Signatures Update Jeff Shaw.
2009 Bowman Chrome Prospects Autographs Juan Carlos Sulbaran.

Gomes and Villarreal are my first autos of them. I have TTM's of Shaw and Sulbaran. My quest is an official and an in-person of as many Reds as possible.

2008 Topps Moments and Milestones Rookie Autographs Brandon Jones.
2010 ITG Heroes and Prospects Autographs Drew Cisco.

I particularly like the Jones. It's a shame this set is so rare. It's nice.

I also picked up a 2007 Topps Gold David Ross and a 2014 Topps 50 Years of the Draft Johnny Bench that have been lost to the bowels of my computer, apparently. Ah well. A nice mailday overall.

Go Reds.

  1. FYI - it looks like Brandon Jones' card pictures Joey Votto; Jones is African-American.

    1. Wow, good catch. I just assumed he was a Reds minor leaguer I never heard of, so I threw down a buck twenty five to beef up the autograph binder. can't believe I didn't notice that was Votto.
