1966 Topps #30 Pete Rose

Anything particularly special about this card? Not really. But it's my oldest Rose and it's a recent purchase, so it gets its own post.

1966 was Pete's 4th in the Bigs. He would have his second straight 200-hit year, getting 205 hits en route to a .313 batting average. At the end of the year he would have 723 lifetime hits, well on his way to 4,256. He also achieved his highest home run total, 16, of his career. Stop swinging for the fences, Petey. Geez.

For the Reds, 1966 was an off-year, going 76-84, good for 7th in the NL. It included the mid-season firing of manager Don Heffner in favor of Dave Bristol.

On another note, I apparently let this blog's one-year anniversary slip by me two days ago. Shameful. Allow me to commence with the fanfare. "Woo." Ok, calm back down.

Go Reds.
