TTM Goodness: Josh Hamilton

It's hard not to be a fan of Josh Hamilton. Drafted by the Rays in 2000, in and out of drug rehab for a few years, released by the Rays in 2006, Rule-5-drafted by the Reds, debuted in 2007 to a standing ovation, then traded to the Rangers in 2008 where he would start a run of 5 All Star appearances with an MVP thrown in (but, hey, my Reds got Edinson Volquez and Daniel Ray Herrera in the deal!!!). Obviously his current stint with the Angels has been less than savory, but he's still a great story. He's currently overseeing a ministry foundation that has built an orphanage in Uganda. And apparently there's a movie in the works with Casey Affleck starring as Hamilton.

But most importantly, of course, is he's a tremendous TTMer. Usually, I'm only optimistic about role-players sending back the cards. Big names, I'm sure, have trash bags full of fan crap that they probably ignore. But Hamilton doesn't ignore them. It took about 4 months to get it back, but I'm sure he had 4 months of signing in front of him to get to mine. So I'm grateful.

Also, these UD Masterpieces are just begging to be signed, aren't they?

Go Reds.

  1. We sent a couple cards to him in Spring Training 2009 (I think)...it came back after the season was over, and we were ecstatic. Is this a recent signing? I assumed he quit TTM after his MVP year, but I could be wrong.
