COMC Red Friday - Part 1/2

As all of you know, and have been posting about, COMC had their annual Black Friday weekend sale. Free shipping, plus all the dealers mark their stuff down. Clearly, I had to take advantage. I still had my usual goal of $30 spent ($30.76 this time).

1972 Topps Pete Rose. Any vintage Petey is a solid pickup. This is from the semi-high number 5th series (#559) so it has been mostly inaccessible. Or at least I just never wanted to drop the bucks. But at $6.75, I pounced. By far the priciest card of the pickup. I'm only missing 4 from the beastly 35 card Reds set: The Rose In Action and 3 from the nutso 6th series. Not bad.

Five pickups from 1971 O-Pee-Chee. All super cheap. The regular Topps version of the World Series card made a nice splash in The Ridiculous Tournament.

Another O-Pee-Chee from way back when. 1970 Home Run Leaders, delightfully loved. Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Willie McCovey make an appearance, but this is still a Lee May card. Chalk it up.

Alright, last O-Pee-Chee. 1965 Bill McCool, an all-time name. I lacked any OPC from this long ago, so this was an easy decision.

A single 1975 Topps mini. Tom Hall. I have 8 from this set. It's not a priority, but I'd like to make some better headway on these.

1950 Bowman Lloyd Merriman. It's an RC, for what that's worth. Stained and priced to move.

1976 Hostess Cesar Geronimo. I had a dozen 70's Hostess, yet somehow none from this set.

And closing out Part 1 is a 1957 Topps Don Gross in a textbook Topps Vintage Pitcher Pose. Nice.

Part 2 coming soon to an inbox near you. Go Reds.

  1. That '72 Rose is a beauty. I would've definitely pounced at that price.

    Also, 1971 OPC BACKS RULE!!!
